Let’s talk about something that’s been on my heart lately. You’ve probably heard the saying that you are the sum of the five people you spend the most time with. And while that’s definitely true in many ways, there’s something else I want to bring to your attention today and that’s how to empower yourself for joy online. In the digital age, we now spend more time scrolling through social media than we do with actual people in our lives. Whoa! 😱
Think about it. Your social media feed, filled with influencers, friends, family, and random pages, is just as much a part of your environment as the people you spend physical time with. And just like those real-life connections, the energy you curate on social media is contagious.
Are You Curating Your Social Media to Empower You?
Here’s the thing: You have the power to choose what you consume, what you follow, and who’s energy you allow into your life—and it matters more than you think.
When was the last time you took a moment to really notice how you feel when you see someone’s post? Social media is a huge part of our lives, so it’s essential that you’re intentional about what you allow into your space.
Ask yourself:
- Does this account make me feel empowered and inspired?
- Does it leave me feeling uplifted, like I can conquer my goals?
- Or does it make me feel disempowered, filled with comparison, or like I’m not enough?
I can’t stress this enough: What you focus on grows—and it spills into all areas of your life, not just online. So, if you’re constantly consuming content that makes you feel down or less than, you’re unknowingly allowing that energy to seep into your day-to-day mindset.
My Personal Social Media Audit: A Simple, Empowering Practice
Here’s something I do that has made a HUGE difference in my life: I regularly audit my social media accounts. I pay attention to how I feel after browsing a feed or watching a video. If the content doesn’t inspire, educate, or uplift me, I unfollow.
And trust me, unfollowing isn’t mean—it’s empowering. You’re taking control of your energy and protecting your peace. It’s about being intentional with where you invest your attention, and remember—your attention is precious.
Curate a Feed That Uplifts, Inspires, and Teaches
So today, I encourage you to get intentional with your social media. Choose joy and inspiration.
Follow people who:
- Have done the things you want to do, not just talked about them.
- Teach and share wisdom that empowers you.
- Lift you up when you’re feeling down.
- Inspire you to take action and pursue your dreams.
These people should leave you feeling seen, heard, and worthy of all that you’re striving for.
You Are Worthy of the Best
Here’s a secret I want you to hear: You are worthy of living your best life. And part of that includes surrounding yourself with people and content that encourage and support you along the way.
This is your journey, and every choice you make—from who you follow to how you spend your time—shapes the life you’re creating. So choose wisely and consciously.
I sure hope I fall into the category of someone who adds value to your life. And if you ever need a reminder that you are worthy of all your dreams, I’m here to remind you!
Let’s continue on this journey together, friend. You deserve to be inspired and surrounded by the energy that uplifts you. 🌟
XOXO,
Jamie
